A Zoo Built for Malaysians, by Malaysians
Zoo Negara Malaysia is managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, a non-governmental organization established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians. Zoo Negara was officially opened on 14 November 1963 and has since matured into a well-known zoological park recognized worldwide.

Over the years, Zoo Negara has transformed into an open-concept zoo, where more than 90% of the animals are kept in spacious exhibits designed to reflect their natural environments.
