Malayan Gaur (Bos gaurus hubbacki)

 

The gaur are one of the largest species of cattle. It belongs to the family Bovidae in the Order Artiodactyla. On 4th September 2014, Zoo Negara was delighted to receive one Malayan gaur from Jenderak Seladang Sanctuary in Temerloh.

The Malayan gaur is locally known as “Seladang”. It is the second largest terrestrial mammal in Malaysia, after the elephant. Among the subspecies of gaur, the Malayan gaur is the smallest! Be amazed by their muscular bodies and size at Zoo Negara today!
